Tour of Missouri-Stage 5-St. Charles, MO-9/15/07

What a fun day waiting for the riders to arrive in St. Charles. Rawson enjoyed walking up and down the railroad tracks there by the river where the race was to end. We left Rebekah back at Grandma and Grandpa's to nap. It seemed weird being there with just 2 kids. I kept looking around for someone. Had a great time with our friends, Mat & Angie, from KC also and their 2 kids, Quincy & Hazel. Of course---there's Alberto Contador (had to catch a picture of his beautiful face). For those of you who don't follow cycling, he's the winner of the Tour de France this year.

Tour of Missouri-Stage 1-Country Club Plaza 9/11/07

Pretty cool being able to catch the end of the 1st stage of the Inaugural Tour of Missouri on the Country Club Plaza. We spent over 3 hours hanging out in the VIP tent eating and drinking and then watched the riders do 3 loops back through the Plaza after going up around the Meyer Circle Fountain. It was a beautiful warm day and much fun was had by all!

1st Day of School 2007

Here are the Jenks kids all ready for their first day of school. Boy, does it remind me of a picture of Carol, Sarah, and me standing in the driveway at 9 Fairway Drive on the first day of school, probably on the way to the bus stop.

Rebekah's growing up

It seems like just yesterday that Rebekah was the baby that I was feeding...

Victoria's trip to the Nelson-Atkins Art Museum-8/30/07

Cate and Victoria enjoyed some special time at the Art Museum on a Thursday evening catching a performance/lecture in conjunction with the KC Ballet. Then we browsed the old building, had some cookies at Rozelle Court Restaurant (mom's favorite restaurant spot), then browsed the new Bloch Building and admired all of the really cool details...including the outdoor sculpture called 1 Sun/34 Moons (the sun is the sculpture in the center and the moons act as both lit circles in the water at dark and skylights to the garage below during the day). Check it out at: http://www.nelson-atkins.org/art/KCSP/Interactive/index.cfm

Rawson's goofy sleep habits

Can you believe the positions in which kids can fall asleep?

Fun in the fountains-8/17/07

While Brendon was out of town racing, Cate and the kids enjoyed the huge water fountains at Crown Center on a Friday evening. It's so fun to be able to finally watch all 3 kids play on their own together!

Partied too hard

Victoria attended a 4th birthday party for a neighbor and later fell asleep right before dinner while sitting at the dining room table. ADORABLE!

Operation Backpack-8/4/07

The Jenks participated in their 1st ministry/service project. We joined many others from our church and other churches to help assemble 6,000 backpacks for children in Kansas City. Victoria and Rawson probably filled 25 each---not too bad before enjoying a muffin and juice afterwards. Great Saturday activity!

Thorncrown Chapel

Brendon and I got to take a walk down memory lane just before leaving Eureka Springs. If you remember, we spent 2 nights in E.S. for our honeymoon 10 years ago. Thorncrown Chapel by Faye Jones, in the background, was one of the architectural masterpieces we were able to see. We didn't get to go in this time with 3 kids falling asleep in the car, but we found a couple (celebrating their one year anniversary :)) to take our picture.

Jenks' 1st Camping Trip

Well, we've finally camped! We took the opportunity to camp at Brendon's first race this season at Eureka Springs. He ended up finishing second (to our friend Tige, nonetheless---we drove down from KC and camped with them). We had a great time with Tige, Vickie and their kids, Griffin and Amelia. Of course, Pam & Jerry camped with us and drove in from St. Louis with all the camping gear and a ton of food. Thanks to Jerry for cooking breakfasts, including CAMPFIRE DONUTS!!!

Victoria's dance recital

Victoria enjoyed breakfast and hangout time at the coffee shop with Daddy before her first Dance Recital. The recital was composed of all the dance moves they had learned this year (she started in January). It was actually very informative. She still loves it.

Summer begins

The Jenks started off the summer enjoying a few popsicles on the front porch. Had to capture a few pics there! Rebekah is starting to get a mind of her own. She won't let you help hold anything anymore, like popsicles, cups of anything. She has to hold it herself now. She's also expressing herself and her independence with Rawson especially. She'll take toys from him to see his reaction (of course in retalliation to his methods with her). She's starting to take risks and we see that as she stands in her chair at the table or walks into the water at the pool and proceeds to go deeper and deeper. If she gets her face submerged it doesn't really stop her, which is good we think.

Victoria is just getting bigger, and this is her year to take off in the pool. She finally really got her face wet when we were at Eureka Springs for Brendon's triathlon 2 weeks ago. Now she's not afraid to go in. Doesn't matter if we specifically meet up with any friends at the pool, because Victoria is bound to make a new friend. And she always makes the effort to go find whoever she was playing with to say "goodbye" when we're leaving.

Rawson is over the potty training hurdle and just growing. Now with summer here it's not unusual for his naps to go over 3 hours. He's showing interest in a wide variety of sports. He'll swing the golf club, throw a football or baseball, and also loves to ride on Daddy's bike with him. He's taken a tumbling class and was a little hesitant to jump right in, so in due time with Rawson. He'll be doing a few camps this summer M/W/F of course one being about Diggers, Dumpers, and Dozers. He still worships the Backhoe.

Easter
Egg Hunt
2007

It's worthy to note that this picture was not taken at Thanksgiving...or Christmas...or New Year's...but rather, EASTER?! Yes, we spent Easter as usual in St. Louis with the whole Jenks family and it was well below 30 degrees with the windchill that day. Nonetheless, we all still made it out to fish and enjoy the outdoors.

Raws-man, as some call him, is enjoying blowing out his candles on his "backhoe" birthday cake. We were blessed to experience 85 degree weather on an April 30th, so we played outside in the sprinkler after eating cake.

Here we are with Dad over the Final Four weekend after dinner at Fiorella's Jack Stack Bar-B-Q. It's in the old freight house just South of Union Station, thus you can see the train tracks just behind the fence. Rawson loved sitting and watching the big trains go by. Too bad the J-Hawks didn't make it past the Round of 16 :(
If you only knew that Rebekah had just walked into the garage to get her own helmet to put on to be safe.

She's pretty content to walk up and down the sidewalks pushing her "wheels".

Here are some other worthy shots of Rebekah
I particularly like these shots that I took looking out our bathroom window

Here's the birthday girl, Victoria, as she's set to celebrate her 4th birthday at her party on 2/10. She chose the pink poodle theme and Mommy has taken on the challenge of creating fun birthday cakes for each birthday (check out the invitation too)! She had a really cute party with 4 friends (no boys---not even Daddy or Rawson).
